River City Repertory Theatre
“MEMOIR”
Broadway and television veteran ROSEMARY PRINZ will star in MEMOIR, a play by John Murrell, which closes the 2009-10 season for River City Repertory Theatre, Shreveport/Bossier’s only professional theatre company.
It’s the seventy-seventh and last summer for Sarah Bernhardt, the most famous and revered actress in history. She’s taken the season to dictate her memoirs to her loyal manservant, Georges Pitou. As she digs deeply into her memory, her private and professional recollections flow together to recreate a past filled with theatrical highs and personal heartbreak. In this dream state, Bernhardt struggles to fight against her failing energies and find a way to accept the day when the sun will soon rise without her.
PRINZ stars as Sarah Bernhardt with BRIAN MATHIS as Pitou.
PRINZ has starred on Broadway, Off-Broadway and across the country in national tours, regional theatres and summer theatres, in more than 300 productions in her long stage career. It was as Penny Hughes on TV’s AS THE WORLD TURNS, which she played for 12 years, that she first gained national prominence. Among her many Broadway credits have been appearances opposite Jack Lemmon in TRIBUTE, TONIGHT IN SAMARKAND with Louis Jordan and GREY-EYED PEOPLE with Walter Matthau. She completed two years in the Off-Broadway hit STEEL MAGNOLIAS where she created the role of M’Lynn. Prinz recently toured in the role of Grandma Kurnitz in Neil Simon’s LOST IN YONKERS, which played runs at Maltz Jupiter Theatre, Cleveland Playhouse and Paper Mill Playhouse.
Mathis is a Dallas-based actor who has appeared in national tours of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR and SEUSSICAL, THE MUSICAL as well as the pre-Broadway try-out of ANGELS, THE MUSICAL. Additionally, he has performed roles at Casa Manana, Alabama Shakespeare Festival and the Tennessee Repertory Theatre. |

MEMOIR will be directed by Patric McWilliams, River City Rep’s Artistic Director, with Set Design by Tom Serio, Light Design by Neil Ingles, Costume Design by Patric McWilliams and Original Music/Sound Design by Kermit Poling.
